NITROUS OXIDE IMAPCT ON SOCIETY
Nitrous Oxide had a significant impact on society, in fact, it played an important role in medical flied. As mentioned above, Nitrous Oxide is used as an anesthetic in labour or dental operations or as an oxidizer in rocket, and in races to make engines stronger. Nitrous oxide was discovered in the late 1700s, however, it was not used as an anesthetic until 1844 and was commonly used by dentists in the 1860s. Before discovering Nitrous Oxide, doctors had to use other anesthetics that have many side affects in comparison to Nitrous Oxide. For instance, dentists used Ethan which is a toxic and a flammable anesthetic which can cause inebriation, sedation, unconsciousness and respiratory paralysis. Whereas, Nitrous Oxide is non-toxic and non-flammable, although it has other side affects but its benefits cover up on them. Furthermore, no injection needed in Nitrous Oxide which makes it easier to use and more convenient for many patients.
